Responsibilities

 

Our newest opportunity is for a talented Senior Decarbonization Engineer to join our award-winning team based in Amman, Jordan

 

This role is responsible for energy auditing, GHG emissions calculations and sustainability strategy development and will be well versed in international frameworks such as IPCC, GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, ISO 50001, SBTi, TCFD, and Net Zero strategies.

 

We envisage success in this role to include:

 

Energy & Carbon Management:

  • Conduct Level 1, 2, and 3 energy audits, providing detailed energy efficiency recommendations. 
  • Perform complex GHG emissions calculations, verification, and reporting based on IPCC, GHG Protocol, ISO 14064-1 & 2, and SBTi. 
  • Lead and support organizations in setting and registering Science-Based Targets (SBTs). 
  • Conduct climate risk assessments and climate resilience studies aligned with TCFD recommendations. 
  • Analyze climate pathways and develop net-zero roadmaps for clients. 
  • Support clients in developing and implementing ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems. 
  • Strategic & Financial Feasibility Analysis: 
  • Conduct detailed feasibility studies for energy efficiency, renewable energy, and decarbonization projects. 
  • Perform marginal abatement cost curve (MACC) analysis and financial modeling for sustainability initiatives. 
  • Develop and assess business cases for energy and sustainability projects, ensuring financial viability. 
  • Advise clients on sustainability strategies, risk management, and compliance with industry best practices. 

Technical & Consulting Expertise:

  • Provide HVAC system assessments and optimization recommendations.
  • Develop technical and commercial proposals, RFP responses, and bid management strategies.
  • Stay updated on global climate policies, carbon pricing mechanisms, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Lead and support renewable energy project evaluations and energy transition strategies.

Communication & Business Development:

  • Prepare high-quality reports, proposals, and presentations tailored to client needs.
  • Deliver engaging presentations and workshops to clients and stakeholders.
  • Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities, writing proposals, and contributing to client engagement strategies.

Project & Stakeholder Management:

  • Manage multiple sustainability and energy projects, ensuring on-time delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, including government entities, corporate clients, and financial institutions.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate sustainability across projects.

Qualifications

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include 8+ years' work experience in sustainability consulting, energy management, or a related field partnered with a Bachelor or Masters degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Energy Management, or a related field. 

  • Certifications such as CEM (Certified Energy Manager), CMVP (Certified Measurement & Verification Professional), LEED AP, or PMP (Project Management Professional). 
  • Knowledge of climate finance mechanisms and carbon offset strategies. 
  • Experience with digital tools for sustainability and energy management reporting. 
  • Strong experience conducting Level 1, 2, and 3 energy audits. 
  • Proven expertise in GHG emissions accounting, SBTi, ISO 14064, and Net Zero strategies. 
  • Experience in registering Science-Based Targets (SBTs). 
  • Solid understanding of ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems and energy performance contracts. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform complex statistical analysis and interpret large datasets. 
  • Experience in financial modeling and feasibility studies for sustainability and energy projects. 
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, renewable energy, and climate risk frameworks (TCFD, climate resilience, etc.).
