Responsibilities

The Smart Cities IoT Engineer is a technology expert responsible for designing and implementing IoT solutions to enhance urban infrastructure and operations. This role involves integrating IoT technologies with city systems to create intelligent, responsive environments that improve the quality of life for residents. The role is required to define and implement IoT Architecture for smart city projects and collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to understand needs and devise IoT solutions. The role should design IoT concepts and ensure secure and reliable integration of IoT solutions with existing Smart City systems and platforms. The role should analyze data to recommend solutions and system improvements, stay updated on emerging IoT technologies and trends, and communicate complex IoT concepts to diverse audiences. 

 

  • Design Comprehensive Smart City IoT Technological Solutions: Develop integrated systems to address urban challenges, such as traffic management, energy efficiency, and public safety. 
  • Research and Evaluate Smart City IoT Emerging Technologies: Stay updated on the latest advancements in smart city technologies and assess their applicability. 
  • Create Detailed Smart City IoT Implementation Plans and Roadmaps: Outline step-by-step processes for deploying smart city solutions, ensuring they are practical and effective. 
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with urban planners, government officials, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure cohesive project execution. 
  • Analyze Data for Smart City IoT System Improvements: Utilize data analytics to monitor system performance and recommend enhancements. 
  • Ensure Smart City IoT Security and Scalability: Design solutions that are secure, scalable, and capable of handling future growth. 
  • Communicate Smart City IoT Complex Concepts: Translate technical jargon into understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Builds client relationships:  Actively develops external and internal client relationships. 
  • Promotes best practice in Smart City IoT design and implementation by assisting Project Directors and Project Managers in line with what is defined by QMS. 
  • Provides Input into all financial models developed in pricing of prospectsto ensure all items are covered and deliver consistent with the strategy. 
  • Maintains overall communication with relevant internal and external stakeholders, clients, directors, and managers on all Smart City IoT solutions related issues. 
  • Support the design management of the Smart City IoT solutions based on project changes through the KEO Change Control Process. 
  • Provides overall guidance and training to project staff on Smart City ICT. 
  • Responsible for the settlement and resolution of client and contractors claims. 
  • Identifies resiliency and performance guidelines and strategies for client developments. 
  • Supports the management of Smart City IoT on all matters related to client’s developments.   
  • Supports the Smart City IoT cost and contractual review meetings and reports thereon. 
  • Provides inputs to develop the monthly project reports and inputs to consolidated Monthly Report to the client. 
  • Provides general Smart City IoT technical support to the project teams.  
  • Supporting the development of payment review, controls and sign-off procedures for all Smart City IoT financial management activities within the project.  
  • Directing and motivating a multi-cultural team of internal and external resources and ensuring all Smart City IoT objectives are delivered.  
  • Responsible for the coordinating of additional resources as required across the project.  
  • Liaise with the Client representatives, the Project Management Consultant, Design and other Consultants and relevant Contractors in respect of all Smart City IoT matters.  
  • Responsible for the drafting of Smart City IoT Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Tender documents for design, engineering and/or construction services for approval.  
  • Responsible for Review all Smart City IoT documents to ensure congruity and to minimize patent and latent ambiguities. 
  • Provide guidance and Responsible for the administration of on-going Contracts, including monitoring Contractor and Consultant compliance with the Smart City IoT Contract documents. 
  • Contribute to Smart City IoT Value and Cost Engineering and advise on Life Cycle Costing. 
  • Responsible for the review process by the project team members of the design submissions and cost plans submitted by consultants, including Pre-Tender Estimates. 
  • Prepares correspondence and maintains records necessary to ensure the effective administration of all Contractual matters, including the issue of Engineers Instructions and Variation Orders. 
  • Responsible for and advise on procurement as necessary, including review of documents for issuing to bidders and preparation of Smart City IoT Tender Reports and other documents for assessment of tenders. 
  • May perform other supporting duties related to Smart City IoT scope for clients. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree or higher in a relevant technical discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in IoT designing, developing, and implementing smart city solutions.
  • Proven track record of successful projects in urban technology integration.
  • Expertise in Smart City IoT solutions, platforms, data analytics, and automation systems.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with urban infrastructure and planning principles.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework), AWS Certified Solutions Engineer, Microsoft Azure or similar
  • Specialized certifications in smart city technologies or IoT systems for urban development.
  • Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Support financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.
