Responsibilities

Our newest opportunity is for a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer (Design Review & Supervision) to join our team based in Amman, Jordan. This position is responsible for Technical Design, Design Review & Supervision of Mechanical Building and site wide utilities Engineering Services.

 

We envisage success in this role to include;

  • Carry out design reviews at various stages of the design process. Perform invasive design reviews and ensure the design complies with applicable local and international codes and standards, local authority requirements and client requirements. Conduct design and constructability reviews during various design stages and provided detailed constructive insights resulting in time and cost savings. Review all design documentation deliverables including but not limited to; calculations, drawings and specifications at all design phases and determine the compliance with the project design brief, project goals and objectives, building code compliance, design optimization, set quality of design is achieved, design efficiency, determine risks and opportunities, determine cost saving solutions, functionality, effective space planning appropriate material selection, quality of coordination of documentation with other disciplines, conduct QAQC. Provide specific and comprehensive commentary within each assigned Design Review Report.  Prepare written documentation such as letters, minutes, meeting notes, commentary for design review report, schedules and others as required. Attends design review workshops and meetings with clients, consultants, local authorities and other design review team members.

  • Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, technical submittals, and vendor drawings for conformance with design intent and project contract documents. Review the materials proposed during design phase and propose alternative to improve the quality, future maintenance, safety and cost effectiveness. Conduct periodic inspections and advise the PMC team and client regarding compliance. Participate in any necessary quality audits in relation to MEP works. Oversee the testing and commissioning program and ensure contractor compliance in conjunction with the Supervision Consultant. Review contractor schedules in relation to procurement, installation, and testing and commissioning, and identified any potential delays or progress concerns.

  • Review and comment on pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up procedures and Operating and Maintenance manuals, appropriate to the functional area of work. Carry out Technical Audits on the ongoing and completed projects for construction, operation and maintenance issues.

  • Review Tender Documents to ensure completeness prior to issuing to Bidders. Assist in the preparation of scope of work documents and review tender documents to ensure their completeness prior to issue to the Bidders.

Qualifications

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include 18 - 20 years work experience partnered with a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering.

 

Proficient in : HVAC, Public health Engineering, Fire Fighting, Central LPG, Medical gases, Compressed Air & BMS services, data centers (preferred not required). Mechanical Building Codes, ASHRAE, CIBSE, IPC, UPC, NFPA, British Standards, Local Authorities (GCC including KSA, Qatar & UAE), International hotel guidelines etc.; Contracts & Specification Management.

 

Certifications and memberships preferred : Member of American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), MIET, Member of The Institution of Engineering and Technology, UK. Others. UPDA grade ‘A’ for Qatar based candidates.
