Responsibilities

Our newest opportunity is for a talented Solid Waste Management Specialist to join our award-winning team based in Jeddah, KSA.

 

This position will be responsible for managing and optimizing waste collection, disposal, and recycling activities within the cleaning and waste management projects in Jeddah Governorate. This role involves developing strategies for efficient waste management, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and collaborating with stakeholders to improve waste reduction efforts.

 

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing technical expertise to ensure that waste management practices align with project goals and sustainability objectives.

 

We envisage success in this role to include:

  • Developing and implementing solid waste management strategies, including waste collection, transportation, disposal, and recycling.
  • Ensuring compliance with local environmental regulations and international waste management standards.
  • Monitoring waste generation data and providing recommendations for waste reduction, recycling, and resource recovery.
  • Collaborating with project teams, contractors, and local authorities to optimize waste management operations.
  • Conducting site inspections to assess waste management practices and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Preparing detailed reports on waste management performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs), challenges, and recommendations.
  • Developing public awareness programs and training sessions to promote sustainable waste management practices.
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in waste management and environmental sustainability.

Qualifications

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include 3+ years of experience in solid waste management, preferably in public infrastructure or environmental projects, partnered with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Waste Management, or a related field.

Furthermore, you should demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge of waste management regulations, recycling processes, and environmental protection standards.
  • Experience in data analysis and performance monitoring related to waste management operations.
  • Familiarity with waste management software and tools for data tracking and reporting.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Arabic.
  • Certification in waste management or environmental compliance (e.g., SWANA, ISO 14001) is an advantage.
