Responsibilities

Our newest opportunity is for a talented Road Engineer, seconded to our Client from government sector in Doha, Qatar.

 

We envisage success in this role to include;

  • Understanding the Road Operation and Management activities, scope task and target.
  • Responsible for the O&M of all road assets, such as Asphalt works, street lightings, safety barriers, traffic signs, directional signs, highways structures as well as maintenance of mechanical equipment such as hvac and passenger’s lifts.
  • Coordinating with stakeholders for executing operations and maintenance of road networks in coordination with the Management Consultants (MC)/ contractors.
  • Planning and programing road assets operation and maintenance on the networks.
  • Administering, prioritizing and overseeing O&M works on the road network and oversee assignment maintenance crews. Able to undertake supervisory and inspection ( for contract compliance) tasks as assigned by Lead Engineers.
  • Reviewing tender documents for contracting maintenance contracts.
  • Developing cost estimates for contracting maintenance contracts based on the work scope documents.
  • Reviewing tender submissions and evaluation reports and provide recommendation to the concerned Committee on technical and financial aspects.
  • Providing support on commercial matters and risks to the Engineers related to ongoing contracting maintenance contracts.
  • Supporting team and contractors on compliance with all processes and procedures relating to Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS).
  • Assisting the project team in ensuring that road upgrading and maintenance works are carried out to the specified technical standards and that corrective action is taken as needed.
  • Developing the quarterly, annual and long term preventative and routine maintenance plans to ensure that the road networks perform to the specified level of operations based on asset management standards and recommendations
  • Coordinating with the Design Department to develop and implement improvements to existing road networks.
  • Managing the performance of maintenance contractors to ensure adherence to defined SLAs.
  • Ability to write project scope of works (tendering/quotation purposes) for new and maintenance works.

Qualifications

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include 10+ years of relevant experience partnered with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering or relevant, from an accredited University or College program.

  • Experience of road networks including 3 years managing contractors and leading a team.
  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of road asset is a MUST.
  • Experience in performance-based contracts is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Quality Road works, Environment policies, procedures and regulations. Ability to deliver and support change.
  • Current/valid Qatar Driving License would be an advantage.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in Arabic is preferred.
