Responsibilities

(ONE YEAR CONTRACT)

  • The energy manager will be critical in helping the design development team achieve high-performance design through advanced energy modeling and analysis. The role will involve using the IESVE and similar programs to generate detailed energy models of buildings, including their architecture, façade, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), and lighting systems. This consists of entering building data, materials, and system specifications. Moreover, the Energy Manager will develop, implement, and maintain the organization's ISO 50001-compliant Energy Management Systems.  
  • Develop, implement, and validate complex energy models for building and infrastructure projects. To simulate energy performance and passive design optimization studies, utilize software tools such as IESVE, Radiance, OpenStudio, Grasshopper, Ladybug Plus, etc. Conduct the technical evaluations for project consultants and contractors' energy submissions for relevant regulatory and standards compliance.  
  • Collaborate with the sustainability team members and design development team to understand the sustainability objectives and provide expert advice on energy-efficient designs and technologies, including renewable energy integration and green building standards.  
  • Collect and analyze data related to energy consumption, efficiency, and renewable energy sources to inform decision-making and optimize sustainability strategies. 
  • Assess the feasibility and financial viability of integrating energy-saving strategies. Perform a detailed cost-benefit analysis & return on investment based on the potential for upfront cost and energy cost savings.    
  • Stay up to date with local and national energy codes, green building regulations (LEED, Mosatadam, BREEAM, etc.), and incentives, ensuring the expert knowledge of Saudi building codes, ASHRAE standards, CIBSE standards, etc. pertaining to energy and passive design analysis for effective implementation in the project design development.   
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation to clearly communicate findings (to both technical and non-technical audiences), modeling results, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders and teams.  
  • Manage the compliance assurance aligned with ISO 50001 standards and legal requirements relayed to energy management. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's degree in mechanical / Energy / Renewable/ Architectural Engineering  
  • A minimum of 6+ years’ experience in energy modelling within the sustainability sector of the built environment is required. Having some background in HVAC design is beneficial.  
  • Experience with energy modelling for various Sustainability Rating Systems such as USGBC LEED, Mostadam, Estidama, etc., and a minimum of 10 energy model submissions successfully evaluated by a rating authority (i.e., LEED, Mostadam, etc.) that the candidate completed.   
  • Expert in IESVE software. Additional software knowledge of OpenStudio, Rhino, Grasshopper, Ladybug, etc. is required. BIM and Revit knowledge and digital integration ability are a plus.  
  • ASHRAE-qualified Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP) is advantageous 
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 50001 and energy management principles.
